2018 Nissan Rogue vs 2018 Ford Escape

Proudly Serving Farmington Hills, MI

The best compact SUVs are wildly popular, due in part to their spaciousness, comfort and value. Two winners are the 2018 Nissan Rogue and the 2018 Ford Escape. Both offer fun-to-drive performance, good reliability and high resale value. Test drive both – we think you’ll agree that the Nissan Rogue is the better value and the better vehicle.

Base Engine

The base engine on the Nissan Rogue is a 2.5-liter I-4 that puts out 170 horsepower, 175 lb-ft of torque and fuel economy of 26 city/33 highway mpg. It is paired to the famous Xtronic continuously variable automatic transmission. The Escape’s base engine is also a 2.5-liter I-4, but it puts out only 168 horsepower and 170 lb-ft into a 6-speed automatic. It gets 21/29 mpg fuel economy. The base Escape S is front-wheel drive only, whereas the base Rogue S is available in FWD or AWD versions.

Dimensions

The Nissan Rogue is larger and more spacious than the Ford Escape. Rogue is longer, taller and has a longer wheelbase, yet it weighs about 100 pounds less. It has a tighter turning diameter, 37.6 vs 38.8 feet. Interior dimensions are also decisively in Rogue’s favor. The Nissan provides more front head room, rear leg room, front shoulder room, rear shoulder room, passenger space, cargo space and total interior space (134.0 vs 132.4 cubic feet).

Features

When you compare the Rogue SV with the comparably priced Escape SE, you find that Rogue give you standard features that are either optional or not available on the Escape. These include exterior heated mirrors, LED daytime running lights, driver and passenger side turn signal indicator in mirror, Intelligent Key doors and push button start, remote engine start key fob, auxiliary audio input, two first-row LCD monitors, tire-specific low pressure warning, blind-spot warning, and automatic emergency braking.
